All Appraisal Institute members holding the SRA designation are required to:

  • Complete rigorous education requirements, submit extensive specialized appraisal experience, demonstrate appraisal report writing abilities and pass a comprehensive examination.  All requirements to obtain the SRA designation are significantly above the state and federal requirements.
  • Conduct his or her professional activities in accordance with the Appraisal Institute's Code of Professional Ethics and are submit to a peer review process, which enforces the Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Adhere to strict continuing education requirements to ensure they are up-to-date with the evolving real estate field.

In addition, the Appraisal Institute's SRA designation has long been recognized by courts of law, government agencies, financial institutions and investors as a mark of excellence in the field of real estate valuation and analysis.

The AI-RRS (Appraisal Institute - Residential Review Specialist) membership designation is awarded to residential real estate appraisers who are experienced in residential appraisal review.  AI-RRS designated members are professionals who have extensive appraisal review experience and education that demonstrate an understanding of the critically important role that appraisal review plays in risk management and mitigation for many clients/users of appraisal services.

All Appraisal Institute members holding the AI-RRS designation are required to:

  • Complete rigorous education requirements, submit extensive appraisal review experience, demonstrate appraisal review abilities and pass a comprehensive examination.  All requirements to obtain the AI-RRS designation are significantly above the state and federal requirements.
  • Conduct his or her professional activities in accordance with the Appraisal Institute's Code of Professional Ethics and are subject to a peer review process which enforces the Code of Professional Ethics.
